That time of year is finally here! The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has started and if you've shopped this sale before, you are aware of their tier system where your credit card status determines what days you can shop during Early Access or if you must wait until it is open to the public on July 28th.
My day is today and I have been eyeing a few things already. If you're interested, I published my wishlist to my IG stories and on my LTK page but of course, I don't think I'll be getting close to checking off that list completely. I went for an early try-on session at the Michigan Ave store and wanted to share my thoughts and highlights.
First off, let's start with what I wore for the day - the power shopping outfit! Nothing too crazy but some comfy 7 For All Mankind cutoff shorts, a Madewell long sleeve black tee and comfy walking sandals by Tory Burch. None of these items are in the sale, btw, but linking similar options below in case you are interested.

The first look I tried on is actually not in the sale either but before I got to the roped off sale areas, I noticed this Free People tee shirt with the most intricate sleeve detail I've ever seen. I tried it on with the Levi's Wedgie jeans which unfortunately were not in stock in my size. Here I'm trying on a 26 (my regular size is 25) and they were pretty loose in the waist so I decided to pass. I do hear amazing things about these jeans and am definitely on the lookout.
I also picked up the BlankNYC bomber jacket you see hanging on the door behind me but unfortunately it also wasn't in stock in my size. That particular one was a medium and I would do much better in an x-small, it was just not a good look so I'm not even posting an image right now but if I see it online in my size, I'll definitely order because this style and color it is totally up my alley. Needless to say, the smaller sizes definitely sold out first and a lot of the items I wanted to try, just weren't available anymore. Hopefully they replenish before the next group.

The next two items below are the L'AGENCE Sabine Hight Waist Zip Cuff Pants in Cappuccino and a Rails Cara white v-neck tee with the cutest embroidered hearts. I absolutely love the simplicity of this tee and the fit was great in x-small. I did love the jeans when I tried them on as well - they are coated to resemble leather pants, have an adorable gold zipper detail around the ankles, and the color is just the perfect light camel. These would be super easy to style for fall with darker tone or even white sweaters. Both of these items are definitely still in the running.
I am also linking two similar options below for the jeans that I didn't see in store but think could be cute if you're interested.

The next item is the Madewell Kent Colorblock Cardigan. This one caught my eye because of the color scheme - these are my colors, I love these colors and they would fit perfectly in my wardrobe. However, I already own 3 Madewell cardigans almost exactly like this one but in solids (black, grey and brown) so I'm deciding to pass on account of that. Otherwise, this would be a definite purchase. Madewell sweaters are super soft and just a staple to have in your closet.

The next item I wanted to feature was this fun denim jumpsuit by Good American. The one I'm trying on is size 1 and the fit was nice in the shoulders and waist but it seems as though my torso is slightly short for it. If the fit is right for you, I think it could be such a cute and easy outfit to wear with the pant legs rolled up slightly and a pair of sneakers. You could even switch out the belt that comes with it for a more classic leather belt and throw on a pair of heels for a more dressed up look. Overall, super cute for late summer/early fall.

The next item on the list is this pair of Madewell "The Perfect Vintage Jeans" which I will definitely be ordering. Again, they were not in stock in my size and I'm trying on a 24 here which are a bit tight but I am loving them. The wash is a perfect medium, the waist goes up to my belly button, and the leg is slightly relaxed.

The next item I tried on is the Rails Hunter Button Up Shirt in Black Scarlet Ash. This one was on my wish list and I wanted to see it in person. I think it could be a really great layering piece for Fall, the color scheme is really nice to style with denim and black. This one is still in the running.

Moving on the loungewear and athleisure. Well, I found the Spanx section and if you have been following me on social media or have read some of my previous posts, you will know that I fell in love with the Spanx Faux Leather Leggings late last year which, btw, are in the sale this year (linking below in case you don't have them, you need them). Now I'm all about the Spanx. Spanx, Spanx, Spanx, Spanx, Spanx.
Here I am trying on the Spanx Every.Wear Knockout Leggings which are just a simple high-waisted legging made of what feels like paper thin fabric, yet the fabric is so strong that your entire body just gets sculpted to look like you've been living at the gym. These are a keeper. The top I'm trying on is the Alo Cover tank in a blush pink color. It's a little cropped but also gives a really nice shape and has a good thickness to it, perfect to wear with high-waisted leggings.

Guess what - more Spanx! These are the faux leather joggers and the "Suit Yourself" V-Neck Tank Bodysuit. I'm passing on the joggers because I have a thing for soft and these just didn't seem that soft to me but they were very well made and would be super cute to style for Fall. I will need to keep an eye out for something similar because ideas have already started brewing in my head as we speak.

I am however, definitely getting the bodysuit because you can never have too many of these and I like the depth of this V. It is not too plunging but also not too shallow, and quite flattering. The straps are on the thicker side, not a spaghetti strap as you can see below, which can be worn to work and with a regular bra.
This moves me to my next item - the item of interest that I went to the store specifically to see in person - the Barefoot Dreams cardigan!
If you're looking for soft, this is it. I was debating between this long version and the belted version when the preview launched so I posted a poll in my IG stories and the winner was long! I'm so glad because I love it! Did I tell you how soft it is yet?
Shop the Look:
I'm loving the length, the color is the perfect oatmeal that will go with so many things and the pockets are in the perfect location for the length of my arms. I've had sweaters in the past where they would just be placed too low so imagine how awkward that could be. These are perfect and overall, the cardigan is perfect. I just can't wait to cuddle up in it!
Another active bottom to highlight is this pair of Restore Soft Pocket Joggers by Zella which are a sort of heather charcoal/black color. I'm still deciding whether I need another pair of joggers but the Zella brand is so good, so these are still in the running and definitely worth considering. I love the high waist, the fit, and of course as the name states, they are super soft.
Shop the Look:
Moving on to bike shorts now that I am on that band wagon, I tried on the Zella Snow Wash Rib Bike Shorts below in black, which is more of a dark grey/charcoal. They were nice and thick, very good quality, and I am loving this burn out sort of look to them. They also had a very nice thick pocket in the back to store away anything you need to carry or just give a little extra cushion when doing floor exercises - I don't know if anyone else has that bone against the floor problem during pilates but I've encountered it from time to time and this would actually be a good solve.
Shop the Look:
I also tried on these Nike Yoga Luxe 7/8 leggings which I loved but also decided to pass on because I already have a pair in a very similar color. If you don't, this color is so so beautiful in person - it is the Bronze Eclipse and I felt like I was just being pulled into it's richness the longer I stared at it. The leggings themselves were super soft, held you in, and really good quality. But that color though!
Here I am trying them on with the Zella Twist Front Tank, very similar to the Alo version from earlier but slightly less cropped.

And for the final item! Thank you for sticking with me if you got this far!! These are the Nordstrom brand Moonlight Short Pajamas which I seriously loved. They are so soft and cute, I love the white piping on the edges and you just can't beat the $29 price tag.
